Short of Breath

For all of you medical people out there, check out my question on the message board. It seems the more I run the less I can breathe. It's getting very depressing. I am not able to run more than a 45 seconds without gasping for breath! All tests normal. What's up????

Is this a change? Do you use a HR monitor? Running faster than before?

I go back and forth between being out of breath and legs feeling like lead, and I cannot seem to run more than a minute or minute and a half without one or the other giving out. It's frustrating.

I also have noticed that when I first start out, even just walking fast, I feel out of breath until I get in a rhythym and that happens even with my heart rate less than 120. Then I get going, heart rate gets up to 130 or so; sometimes I can really tell that and am gasping for breath and other times crusing along pretty good at that heart rate. Beats me what's going on! (probably something I ate! (or didn't eat))

I know sometimes when I run I find myself panting and short of breath. Years ago when I ran, I would count (in my head) my breaths and count in between them to get into a pattern.

Breathe 1-2-3 breathe-1-2-3 breathe 1-2-3.

I would listen not only to my breathing but my foot steps. It worked for me.

Then there's the usual questions like:

Are you holding your breath and not realizing it? Are you running after a meal? Are you getting enough water?

Much like catseye, I have training days when I'm out of breath & my legs & feet are so heavy--even if I stretch & am properly hydrated. I even use a HRM and my heart rate is about 80% to 97% (145 to 172 bpm)--on good days as well as not so good. Wished I had answers.

DO YOU JUST START OUT RUNNING,, MAYBE START OUT AND DO ABOUT 5 MIN WALKING THEN INCREASE YOUR SPEED,, DONT KNOW, JUST MIGHT HELP,,
HOPE YOU GET BETTER
