I tell you, I am soooooooooo thankful for my hydration belt! That last leg on Saturday from the trail back to fleet feet in the sun was quite hot!! I was squirting water on my head more than in my mouth. I stopped and squirted a few people along the way as well. Poor Chuck looked like he needed an IV and Shelly had to sit on the curb a little bit as well. I shutter to think of how hot it is GOING to get! I may need my TWO water bottles on my person somewhere.
Somebody told me about a hat (I can't remember who) that has those refreezable gel packs in them. I'm off to search for one of those......needless to say, I may have to switch from my sun visor to a hat anyway. When I got home on Saturday, my little bald spot on my head was fried!! Too bad I didn't have any eggs with me. I could have had some protein grilling up there while I ran! (ha/ha).
I did my nine miles in two hours and twelve minutes. Not very fast, but at least I did it. Then a sobering thought came to mind.......when those little Kenyan winners cross the finish line, I'll be at only the nine or ten mile mark!! They could probably go tape a show with Oprah and come back after a nice dinner to watch me cross the finish line!!
Hope all you 'maternal females' had a great Mother's day! My mom came down from my hometown of Columbus this weekend and it was a great visit. After my dad's death three years ago, every visit is special and I take nothing for granted anymore. So the next time you see your loved ones, give them a big hug and tell them you love them because tomorrow is never promised.
On a lighter note, go to www.dickssportinggoods.com and go all the way to the bottom menu and click on 'outlet'. They have some pretty good prices for running clothes both summer and winter. I'm such a cheapskate. I don't pay full price for anything and never look unless it says at least 50%off. Good thing my wife is the same way, or I would probably be divorced. I try to buy her jewelry and she refuses saying it's too much money. God I love her!!!!!

I too will be sporting my own water bottle this coming Saturday. Maybe I would not have been so wiped out from Pear Orchard up to Fleet Feet. And, my husband won't buy me jewelry, so I buy MY OWN every few years. I put it on layaway.
Kelvin,
You did great on Saturday. I was right behind you at 2:20 because that last hills was a killer along with the heat. I didn't have my hydration belt but decided that I will run with one from this point on. Suzanne
Yes, it was hot! Good job bringing your hydration with you - those last couple were tough! Thanks for posting the website!
I've already told Christa that whoever finishes first waits for the other one at the finish line with a cold beer/champagne/wine. I got a hydration belt thingie Friday and boy, was I glad! It was HOT and I'm ready to run at 5 AM
Okay, maybe I am sold on the water belt, now. Remind me to tell you one of my Chicago stories at a bar called "Dicks Last Resort" in Chicago. Funny stuff. They can make you a hat there, too! Am I a bad Husband to buy my wife a Bike??!!!
Believe it or that, that's what I tell my husband :) So I get nice practical stuff like kitchen gadgets & electronics--totally OK with that. Thanks for the link. :)
I vote you as the MVP of this group. You just absolutely positively CRACK ME UP!!!!!!
Jewelry. We all say we don't want it, but we do.
Be safe, not sorry! But, let her pick out what she wants or take hints from what she tells you she likes. Women hold a grudge - face facts. HA!

Kelvin, I'll give you feedback on that B&B...this will be our first trip there. My husband had reserved a room at the Marriott at Point Clear and the rooms were outrageously high...being the more frugal one, I went online and found this B&B that sounded cool for something a little different and a little cheaper. Thanks for the website for the sports bargains!
She's a great gal!!!!
