In the spirit of David Letterman, I would like to do the "Top Ten Reasons Why Chicago Is Going To Be A Better Run than Mississippi". Feel free to add to the list. Are you ready?
10. Humidity? What Humidity? Just like Lisa in California and myself in Kentucky, it was nice to actually be able to breathe again.........
9. Deep Dish Pizza. Cheesecake Factory. The miracle mile shopping extravaganza. I believe from a culinary experience, my stomach and tastebuds will thank me after all of the gels, and gatorade this year.
8. October!! I went to the doctor the other day and they asked me if I was allergic to anything. I said "Yes, August!!" I keep thinking back to the levee days......
7. Now is where you come in to finish.....Let's hear your thoughts!!

6)No Fox Bay hills. I know we will really appreciate a flat course.
There will be more interesting things to see along the route than:
1) a used pregnancy test
2) dead animals
3) a hair brush
(those are just some of the things I've seen on my trips across the causeway! I'm sure others have seen weirder stuff. Maybe that's the next top ten list..."odd things I've seen along side the road")
Yep, definitely the lack of humidity.
Big one: a fan club of a million people cheering you on, giving you high fives, and calling out your name throughout the route.
Big adrenaline rush
9) We will not have to have a 5:00am start to beat the heat!
Jana!
?) We will not have to float away from all the water we consume to "beat the heat" in Chicago. Hydrate well, but not HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!!!
?) No bicycles to what out for!
Will have our own little built-in cattle prod, called a chip in our shoe. Just knowing that our family and friends are following us along the course, through that chip and their computer, will keep us movin' right along at a somewhat faster pace!
Port-a-potties all along the way? Cool wind blowing in your face?
40,000 strangers running along beside you--or somewhere within a few miles of you!
Perfect strangers cheering for you all along the way--many of them even calling you by name (if you bought one of the race shirts).
Kelvin, I would suggest doing some xt but not too much before the marathon. Do plenty of stretching, icing and resting, plus hydrate. I would just focus on maintaining for the rest of your marathon training. It wouldn't hurt to do some light xt, though.
Keep it up, man!
having live bands to listen to instead of my little ipod
i cant wait
